Staying Positive in times of Corona

Everyone is talking about the coronavirus. Every day there is new, discouraging news and the whole world seems to stand still. We at Matabooks are also hit hard by the new situation we now find ourselves in. But instead of letting the negativity take us by surprise, we’ve put together a little list that can help you navigate the current situation and use the time productively for yourself.

Step 1: Don’t lose Hope and Patience

The government and the scientific community are working hard to improve the situation so that our lives can return to normal as soon as possible.

Step 2: Stay Healthy and Help others

Follow the recommended safety measures and set a good example for others. Help your neighbours and friends when they have difficulties – for example, when shopping or walking the dog. They will be very happy and a good deed during the day will also lift your spirits!

Step 3: Avoid reading negative news

Apart from the developments around Corona, today’s media world is flooded with negativity – you don’t have to have that. To escape it all, you can start with small steps: Unfollow social media channels that make you feel dissatisfied with yourself and your life. Have lots of contact with people who support you and make you feel good. Turn off your mobile phone for a period of time during the day so that it doesn’t consume too much of your free time or even become the first thing you see when you get up. Instead, engage in beautiful morning rituals – yoga, a cup of tea, reading – and take the day slowly. Do something good for yourself – a delicious meal, a warm shower; it can be anything that makes you happy – and reward yourself and your body.

Step 4: Focus on yourself

Invest your newfound free time in yourself. Maybe by finding a new hobby or taking up an old one that you always say: “I’ll do that when I have enough time”. Try to think as little as possible about negative things and be afraid, and rather use your time for beautiful things. Read, paint, go for a walk, call your parents and grandparents, write to friends or reconnect with people you haven’t heard from in a long time; watch films, sew or knit, cuddle your pet, water your plants, tidy up the flat, … The possibilities are endless and now is the best opportunity to explore home and take a break from the fast pace of life these days.

We hope this little list can encourage you a little and give you some support when you get stuck. Focus on the positive and beautiful things in life and read lots of books! Take a look at our Online shop. There are exciting novels that will immerse you in another world.
